Kadınlarda Görgü Tanıklığı Belleği Hataları: Tanık Olunan Olay Sonrası Bağımsız Bellek Bildiriminin Sürpriz Tanıma Testi İle İlişkisi
Abstract
The main aim of this study is to investigate free recall and recognition task performances of the eyewitnesses after the incident without any intervention. The study consists of a pilot study and two experiments. The study is performed with collaboration of 212 volunteered female participants with ages 17-25, from Hacettepe University. Results show that in recognition after free recall task, manipulated photographs cause the most memory error while the participants have the highest confidence levels for them. An eyewitness has difficulty in recognizing small scale differences in details of the incident he or she eyewitnessed but is confident in his or her answer.Study reveals that in order to obtain the most reliable information, free recall without any intervention whatsoever should be performed first. It should also be noted that the detail detection performance of the eyewitness depends on the type of the image.
