Abstract

The main purpose of this dissertation is to analyze the relations among politicalauthority, military and citizens in Turkey with the help of related theoretical approachesand within the general framework of democratic control of the armed forces .The study is based on an assumption that, concordance among political authority,military and citizens on dialogue, co-operation, sharing of values and objectives mayprovide a better tool for healthier and irreversible civil-military relations . Thusmethodological construct of this study build is inspired by Rebecca Schiff s model,which enhances the analytical framework by incorporating citizens into her model,asserting that concordance among three partners -the military, the political elites, andthe citizenry- on specific indicators would provide a stable civil-military relations.
