Düzenli Orduya Geçiş Sürecinde Asakir-İ Mansûre-İ Muhammediye Ordusu’nun Teşkilat ve İç Hizmet Düzenlemeleri (1826-1834)

Abstract

This thesis investigates the organizational and internal service evolutions, between 1826 and 1834, of the Asâkir-i Mansûre-i Muhammediye Army, which was founded after the abolition of Janissaries. The Ottoman State was in such turmoil in the research period that the Peloponnese Uprising, the Ottoman-Russo War of 1828-1829, and the Ottoman-Egypt War of 1831-1832 were marked. The art of war, which the Ottoman Army added to its military thought in those hard times, had it need to change not only its tactic in battles but also its military organization and internal services. Besides, it stipulated that combat support arms should be compatible with combat arms. Therefore, the first part of the thesis will discuss the organizational evolutions of the Mansûre Army and, simultaneously, those of the other combat support arms. Subsequently, in the second part, the internal services that were run by this organization will be explained one by one. Finally, in light of these developments, the very meaning of the Mansûre Army will be revealed, and the military cultural heritage that it brought about will be stated.
