Yazılı Kültür Bağlamında Hatırlama ve Kültürel Bellek: Örnek Bir Okuma Olarak Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar

Abstract

In this study, the concepts of oral-literacy culture, remembrance and memory will be approached from many different disciplines. A folkloristic approach through Tanpınar will be presented on these concepts. In first part, after concept of literacy defined, the elements that changed during transition oral culture to literacy will be examined. These changes are primarily language; then respectively change in consciousness and way of thinking, changes in the usage of memory, changes in narrative in literary ideas in its forms and type. In the beginning of second part the concepts of tradition and modernization will be examined through Tanpınar’s literary idea. Tanpınar’s "continued chain" idea will be considered as an effort of reform and modernization in reconstruction of the tradition and in this process "cultural memory" will be both carrier of the tradition and reference authority of construction of the tradition. After sample analysis will be made of the concept that constitute the literary idea of Tanpınar’s "cultural memory". This analysis will held at central aesthetic considerations of his poetry, novels, stories and articles he established on the basis of reminiscence. In conclusion, an inference will be present considering that recall aesthetics is a cultural memory; and this is a transfer of cultural heritage made from oral culture to written culture consistently. This come through this inference is also a value in terms folkloristic and what values are they.
