In this report titled “Arts in alternative spaces: Street”, the actions of art in public and non-art spaces are examined especially through Jürgen Habermas’s idea about public space. The evolution of these acts of art, which started in the past and still popular but still considered as crimes, turning into art works is examined in this thesis.
The task of the “Wall” surface to limit the individuals still functions the same way from the paleotic times. In this study, the usage of surfaces which are used as walls in terms of their function as well as the wall is emphasized and the way these surfaces are used by the government and the public are discussed. The public sphere is taking into consideration of this examination. Performing art as an action in the public space has provided an opportunity to review what the public and public space should be in social life.
This report investigates illegal art activities in the public space was supported by personal studies and tried to obtain inferences. As a result of the studies, it has been tried to contribute to the position of street art in public space ontology with experimental studies in today's art.
