1998 Ve 2008 Türk Iye Nüfus ve Sağlık Araştırması Verilerinde 5 Yaş Altı Çocuklarda İshal İle İlişkili Bazı Çevresel Özelliklerin Incelenmesi
Özet
Data of Turkey Turkey Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) 1998 and 2008 were used to evaluate environmental risk factors of
diarrhea in Turkey. DHS has a weighted, multi stage, stratified cluster sampling
approach and provided maternal and child health information. This study is a
secondary analysis of data from DHS. Chi square and binomial logistic regression
was used by weigthed data of DHS.
In 1998 DHS there was 3459 and in 2008 DHS 3463 child under five years of
age. Diarrhea prevelance was %30,1 and %18,3 respectively. In chi-square tests for
DHS1998, diarrhea percentages were related with unsafe water, non-flush toilets,
wealth quality index, region, education of parents, sex and age of child. Some of
these factors changed in DHS 2008.
Multivariate analysis revealed that wealth quality index (all quintils), region
(Centre and East), mother’s education (all level), mother’a age group (15-19 age
group), age of child (under 2 years of age) and sex (male) of child were risk factors
for 1998 DHS. In 2008 significantly risk factors were region(East), mother’s
education (no education), father’s education (primary level), breastfeeding of child
(stil breastfeeding during survey), mother’s age (20-29 age group), age of child
(under 2 years of age). As a result, patterns of risk factors diarrhea has changed from
1998 to 2008 DHS in Turkey.
