In-vitro Evaluation of Shear Bond Strength of Resin Matrix
Ceramics with Different Surface Treatment Methods, Hacettepe University
Faculty of Dentistry Deparment of Prosthodontics, Specialization Thesis,
Ankara, 2019. The purpose of this in-vitro study is; to comparative evaluation of shear
bond strength of three different materials which are nanoceramic and hibrit ceramic
structure and scan with a scanning electron microscope. To accomplish this study,
extracted carious-free human incisor, canine and molar teeth were selected and
vestibule surfaces were cut flat to get a flat enamel and dentin surfaces. A total of 84
beans were produced in the form of 5x5x2 mm square prisms from three different resin
ceramic blocks (Enamic, Cerasmart, Lava Ultimate). This ceramic specimens
cemented to tooth surface with dual cure resin cement (Variolink II). 3000 termal
cycles were applied to half of the 28 specimens from each groups. Shear bond strength
test was performed using a universal testing machine. A scanning electron microscope
was used for the evaluation of the bonding surfaces between adhesive resin cement
and dentine. Normal distributions of the data were examined by Shapiro Wilk test.
Normal distribution data were compared using one-way analysis of variance. Tukey
HSD was used when testing differences among the groups, Kruskal Wallis test was
used when there was no difference. Analyzes were conducted at a confidence interval
of 0.05. The difference among the bond strength in all groups before and after the
thermal cycling was found statistically significant. The bond strength values before
and after the thermal cycling were determined as Enamic, Lava Ultimate and
Cerasmart in descending order, respectively. The highest decrease in bond strength
after thermal cycling was seen in Cerasmart and the least decrease was seen in Enamic
group.
