Cəlil Məmmədquluzadə is a writer from Azerbaijan, who is a big master of little stories, dramatist, journalist and one of the creators of the ideology of Azerbaijanism (Həbibbəyli, 2004). He is a representative of the literature of Azerbaijan. He was the creator and editor of the “Molla Nasreddin” magazine, published between 1906 and 1931, which interested a lot of people in a large area from Caucasia and Iran to Far East Asia, Africa and European countries; namely in all Turkestan (Habibbeyli, 2008). In the history of Azerbaijan literature, he is also known with the name of “Molla Nasreddin” which was both his nickname and the magazine’s name that is published by him. He founded a realistic-democratic literary school under the umbrella of the magazine he had founded. He played an active role for forming of Azerbaijan’s nationalism (Həbibbəyli, 2004). The language of his works is very close to conversational language and it is realized that the conjunction ki is widely used in the stories.
The conjunction ki derived and naturalised from Persian (Tekin, 1989). Azerbaijan that had closer relations with Iran than Turkey (Ortaylı, 2016, s. 133), had been influenced more. So; there is more Persian elements in Azerbaijani Turkic than Turkey Turkic (Turkish) now. The conjunction ki is also one of those elements. The widely usage of that conjunction resulted in wide meanings. Namely; the conjunction ki has more meanings in Azerbaijani Turkic than Turkey Turkic. In this work; the variation of the conjunction ki in Azerbaijani Turkic-mentioned before-is going to be analysed and the differences of the conjunction ki used both Turkey Turkic and Azerbaijani Turkic going to be revealed.
