The aim of this dissertation is to determine the relationship between the asymmetric power in human's relation with social system and basic problem areas in the struggle for survival in terms of ”ontological security erosion", to raise awareness about the factors involved in the emergence of coping strategies, to evaluate the position of the actor in this process through yoga and to raise awareness in context of yoga as one of the coping strategies.
The basic acceptance of the dissertation is based on Giddens's concept of “structuration” in the context of relation between the individual and the society. The systematics of this dissertation constructed in terms of structure at first and then the actor’s acts. Firstly, the social structure features in the macro-dimension globalization process were discussed, and the changes in human ecology in the new world order were examined. In order to facilitate this, the systematic framework is based on Urie Bronfenbrenner's "Theory of Human Ecology". Secondly, based on the literature, the positioning of yoga in the new world order, its organizational design and commitments were studied. Finally, in the context of the reaction of the actors in the micro-scale level, the attitudes of individuals against the situations caused by this structure and affected negatively the ontological security of them were examined through interviews. Participants were determined by snowball technique.
The main conclusions of this dissertation are those; the experiences of the individuals in the model and dynamics of the consumer society as the production of the global-capitalist system and the changes in the socio-ecologies create the ontological security weakness or erosion, and yoga is a consumer good within the framework of the profit and product-oriented sales strategy of today's global-capitalist system, and the individuals signify yoga as a coping strategy for their ontological security needs.
