ABSTRACT
BİLGİN, Tuğçe. “Body to Object, Object to Body (Transfer): Figure, Fragment”,
MA Artwork Report, Ankara, 2018.
In this report titled as ‘Body to Object, Object to Body (Transfer): Figure, Fragment’,
perception, shaping and intrinsicality of the subject and object as well as the properties of sensory experiences of the subject are emphasized. It has been argued in the report that the positioning of the object today as the subject is a reality replacing the truth. How rejection of the body, ignoring what exists within as well as cultural and sociological differences change the ways of perception and furthermore the intersection of acquired knowledge with abject and alienation concepts were also investigated. The relation of the body and the object with the past and the present has been mentioned addressing their contextual and conceptual content while evaluating what sort of semantic construct the body and the object belong. Based on this evaluation, how artists interpret this subject and what arguments, concepts, phenomena and tools they work with and what triggering factors they are influenced by and through which stages they have passed are explained with examples.
In the first part of the report it has been assessed in accordance with the purpose of this work, how the subject, whom realizes its own consciousness, positions the body, how the body is approached in the art history and how the object associates body with the subject.
In the second part, it has been argued in which situations the subject and the object tend to trade places with each other within the scope of ‘Abject’ concept. Artists who are directly related to the subject of the work and who are thought to be able to support this report are given and drawn to the topic of the work by examples. The subject matter has been studied and experimented with along the artworks that had been formed during the creation process.
