Giresun Yayla Şenlikleri
Özet
In this doctoral dissertation, the plateau festivals organized in Giresun are studied in terms of mythological, historical, geographical, social and cultural contexts and examined through performance theory and functional theory, which are some of the conceptual hypotheses of folklore. The sense of festivity in Turkish culture and the functions of the festivals in social life are resolved in the context of Giresun Plateau Festivals as a festival arrangement tradition and as a kind of amusement event by analyzing the conceptual plan. Giresun plateau festivals, migration sociology, cultural change, cultural tourism and cultural economy are analyzed in the thesis. Moreover, the connection between Giresun plateau festivals and city folklore and Giresun Days as an invented tradition, or the promotion days is revealed. The history of the festivals, the location of the festivals, the place of arrangement, the time and mode of performance, the participation rate, and cultural activities performed in the festivals and various traditions and customs in the region have been analyzed with a holistic view. In addition, the Giresun Plateau Festivals have been analyzed on structural and functional terms on the sample of the Kümbet Plateau Festival.
