In this thesis, the Aslı Story Series prepared by the PİKTES project was examined and
the internal and external structural features of these storybooks, which aim to teach
Turkish to Syrian children, were analyzed in detail. Internal structural features include
subject matter, language and style, and activities, while external structural features
include pictures, page layout, book size, paper features, cover and binding features. In the
study, data were collected through document analysis method utilizing qualitative
research design and the findings were evaluated through content analysis technique. In
the theoretical part of the thesis, in order to get to know the target audience, topics such
as the definition of a child, child development periods; physical and motor development,
cognitive development, moral development and language development were included. In
addition, reading books for foreign language learning and standards used for children's
books were discussed. In the findings section, the internal and external structural features
of the books were examined and evaluated in detail. In the conclusion part, based on the
findings, some suggestions are presented for the preparation of storybooks for teaching
Turkish as a foreign language to children. This study aims to contribute to the more
effective and efficient preparation of books in the field of teaching Turkish to foreigners
for children.
