Then, the symbolic meanings of insects in art history are examined. Insect images have been frequently used in the works of artists throughout history and have carried various symbolic meanings. In this section, the role of insects in works of art and how these images have been attributed a historical meaning are detailed. In the insects and psychological phenomena section, which constitutes the main part of the thesis, the effects of these images on human psychology are examined in depth. In addition, the place and importance of insects in human life in different periods and geographies are examined through various elements that constitute culture. The echoes of insects in people's subconscious, their psychological reactions and the sense of uncanniness they create are particularly emphasized. This analysis reveals both the frightening and fascinating aspects of insects and reveals the deep effects of these creatures on art and psychology.
Finally, in the personal studies section, personal evaluations on how insect images are used in paintings and the psychological effects of these images are presented. In the conclusion section, the question of why insect figures are included in the paintings is answered through the formal narrative of the paintings and the direct relationship with insects. This study presents perspectives from different disciplines on this subject by presenting a holistic approach to how insects are handled in both scientific and artistic contexts.
