Memleket Sandıklarından Menafi Sandıklarına Ziraat Bankası (1863-1918)

Abstract

In this thesis titled "Ziraat Bank from Hometown Funds to Benefit Funds (1863-1918)” the transformation of the Hometown Funds established by Mithat Pasha in the town of Pirot in 1863 into Benefit Funds in 1883, and the evolution and development of the organization on which these funds were founded, from 1888 to 1918, to Ziraat Bank, are discussed in a historical dimension. and its examination with an understanding appropriate to the historical method. Beyond writing a mere history of banks and institutions, the thesis aims to give the economic, social and intellectual environment of the period. In the studies conducted so far on Ziraat Bank, it has been seen that the subject has been discussed only from the banking perspective. In historical studies, it has been seen as a deficiency that the banking history in question is only discussed after the declaration of the republic and that the date of its establishment and its developments are not examined in detail. This study aimed to fill this gap in the literature.
