6 Şubat Depremleri Sonrası Ankara’ya Göç Eden Kadınların Toplumsal Cinsiyet Bağlamında Deneyim ve İhtiyaçları
Özet
The aim of this research is to explore the experiences and needs of women who survived the February 6
earthquakes and migrated to Ankara in the context of gender. For this purpose, in-depth interviews were
conducted using a semi-structured interview form with 34 women of Turkish origin who experienced the
February 6 earthquakes, who were not diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, who did not lose their first-degree relatives in the earthquake, and who had to leave the city they lived in due to the disaster and came to Ankara through forced migration. The data obtained from the research were analyzed with reflexive thematic analysis using MAXQDA Pro 2020 program. As a result of the analysis, “Women's Experiences and Gender Needs in the Earthquake Region”, “Women's Migration and Resettlement Experiences after the Earthquake: Long-Term Gender Needs” and "Women's Evaluations Regarding the Solution of the Problems They Experienced After the Disaster and Meeting Their Needs". It was observed that women's care burdens increased after the earthquake, they were concerned about privacy and safety fed by patriarchal codes, they could not access water and hygiene, they needed a shelter with appropriate living conditions, and they were exposed to treatment unworthy of human dignity and gender-based discrimination in the aid delivered to the region. In the cities where they settled after forced migration, it was revealed that they were subjected to social exclusion and oppression, their care burden continued, they could not participate in business life due to gender inequality, they were exposed to gender-based violence, and they needed psychosocial support. All policies and services related to disasters should be developed in a gender sensitive manner and in consideration of women's rights. It is thought that this thesis will make an important contribution to the literature in terms of making the voices of women who had to migrate due to the earthquake heard and making their gender needs visible from a social work perspective.
