Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to conduct a detailed analysis of the thought system of the prominent intellectual writer Sâmiha Ayverdi, who holds a significant place in Turkish thought and intellectual life, based on her works. This research, which is based on Sâmiha Ayverdi's intellectual life, is structured into four chapters. The first chapter contains the introduction of the research. In the second chapter, Sâmiha Ayverdi's life will be discussed, and her written works will be examined. The third chapter will focus on Sâmiha Ayverdi's contributions to the world of political science, particularly in the context of nationalism and conservatism, which form the basis of her intellectual work. In the fourth chapter, the late Ottoman Empire and the Republican Era will be interpreted through Ayverdi's writings. In the concluding section of the study, Sâmiha Ayverdi's thought system will be analyzed comprehensively, and conclusions and evaluations will be made based on the analytical findings. In the final analysis, this thesis aims to contribute to a better understanding of Sâmiha Ayverdi, who had a conservative and nationalist intellectual approach in Turkish thought and political history, to examine her era from a women's perspective, and to expand the literature of Turkish political science conceptually, analytically, and intellectually. Within this scope, the main question of the study is to understand the role of Sâmiha Ayverdi's works in the comprehension of the late Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Turkiye in Turkish political life.
