Pediatrik Kemoterapiye Bağlı Nöropati Ölçeği'nin Türkçe Geçerlilik ve Güvenirlik Çalışması
Özet
This
study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the “Pediatric Chemotherapy
Induced Neuropathy Scale (P-CIN)” developed to evaluate chemotherapy-induced
peripheral neuropathy with a patient-centered approach in children who have
received or are currently receiving neurotoxic chemotherapy and to adapt it to the
Turkish population. The methodologically planned study was completed with the
participation of 90 patients between the ages of 8-18 years who had received or were
receiving neurotoxic chemotherapy between June 2023 and April 2024 in the
inpatient and outpatient clinics of Hacettepe University Oncology Hospital,
Department of Pediatric Oncology and Hacettepe University İhsan Doğramacı
Children’s Hospital Pediatric Hematology Unit. “Individual Introduction Form”,
“Pediatric Chemotherapy-Induced Neuropathy Scale” and “Total Neuropathy Scale
Adapted for Children” were used as data collection tools. Language, content, and
construct validity methods were used to test the scale's validity. Internal consistency
analysis, parallel tests, and test-retest methods evaluated the scale's reliability. For
content validity, ratios were calculated for all items, and the values were found to be
within the acceptable range. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted for
construct validity. The fit values calculated by confirmatory factor analysis were
found to be within acceptable limits. According to the internal consistency analysis
results, Cronbach's alpha value of the scale was 0.69. Its correlation with the parallel
test was found to be strong (r=0.824) and its temporal invariance was revealed by
test-retest (p<0.05). The Pediatric Chemotherapy-Induced Neuropathy Scale,
adapted into Turkish, was a valid and reliable measurement tool for evaluating
peripheral neuropathy in pediatric patients with cancer aged 8-18 years.
