Pandemi Sürecinde Türkiye'deki Müzisyenlerin Deneyimleri

Abstract

The focus of this research is the experiences of musicians in Turkey during the pandemic, a moment of social crisis. In this context, within the framework of the concepts of digitalization, risk, and trust; it is aimed to reveal and interpret how musicians are affected by their practices of production and performance in the course of this process, the risks they face, and the elements that constitute trust for them. Likewise, it is also aimed to offer solutions by revealing the risk factors for musicians. In this respect, in-depth interviews were conducted with a total of 22 participants, 11 in Ankara and 11 in Istanbul, and conclusions were made about the experiences of musicians in the process. Both the positive and negative reflections of digital production and performance practices on the musician's world of experience and the reasons for these reflections are evaluated in detail. Since the only way of inclusion in digital practices is when it is possible to adapt and access the digitalized tools, it appears as a process that deepens inequalities. By interpreting the dynamics of the sense of ontological security of the musicians, the roles of elements such as insurance, the roles of authorities, civil society organizations, and organizational skills of the musicians in this process are discussed. In this study, which leans on Giddens and Beck's theoretical framework of risk society evaluations; as a result of the examination of the risks encountered during the pandemic process, it was concluded that the risks that musicians already faced outside the pandemic deepened. The risk elements created by the flexible market conditions that dominate the employment areas that deepen their vulnerability in the process have also been discussed and the musicians' suggestions against risks have been put forward. In light of all these, it was concluded that musicians were one of the professional groups most deeply affected by the pandemic conditions.
