Abstract

Digital feminist art involves expressing feminist demands and the pursuit of rights through art, utilizing digital technologies, computers, and the internet. The rapid adaptation to advancing technology, especially during the pandemic, has brought about significant changes in society and traditional cultural practices, making it a focal point for various studies. Some of these studies concentrate on the development of digital art, while others focus on the digitalization of feminist activism. However, there is a noticeable gap in research where feminism, art, digitalization, and activism intersect. Thus, examining and documenting developments in digital feminist art during these transformative times is crucial for writing feminist art history. Highlighting significant changes at the intersection of digitalization, art, and feminist activism underscores the potential future of contemporary feminist art and activism. The historical progression of the feminist struggle and the impact of digitalization and art on social transformation emphasize the importance of advancing toward justice and equality. This thesis centers on trends in Virtual Reality (VR), 3D Modeling and Printing, Animation, Augmented Reality (AR), Illustration, Data Visualization, Hacktivism, Video, Robotic Technology, GIFs, Websites, and Digital Art in public spaces. Additionally, it encompasses hybrid works created with traditional techniques and digital technologies, the effects of hashtag activism, and feminist gaming. These areas collectively form the core of this study, aiming to provide a comprehensive analysis of digital feminist art's evolution and its implications for feminist activism.
