Abstract
The Mediating Role of
Digital Literacy in the Relationship Between These Adolescents' Social Media
Attitudes and Self-Perceptions, attitudes and self-concept perceptions. The type of
research consists of a total of 287 adolescents, 188 of whom are girls (65.5%) and 99
of whom are boys (30.3%), in the 14-17 age group, who attend secondary education
in the Central district of Bilecik province. “Personal Information Form”, “Social
Media Attitude Scale”, “Digital Literacy Scale” and “Self-Perception Scale for
Adolescents” were used as measurement tools. The data in the analysis phase was
completed by transferring to SPSS Statistics 23. Independent t-test was used for
differences between two groups, and one-way analysis of variance (One Way
ANOVA) was used to determine whether there was a difference. between more than
two groups. Pearson distribution analysis was used to examine the relationship
between the scales, and path analysis was used for model testing. P<0.05 was
accepted for significance. It is obtained that adolescents' social media attitude, digital
literacy and self-perception level subscale scores differ according to demographic
variables. According to the Path model, social media attitude behavior has a positive
significant effect on digital literacy behavior (β: 0.475, p: 0.000), and digital literacy
behavior has a positive significant effect on self-perception behavior (β: 0.412, p:
0.000). . In addition, it was determined that digital literacy view (β: 0.196, p: 0.005)
played a mediating role in the effect of social media attitude view on self-perception
view. When the results are evaluated, it is possible to talk about the positive effect of
social media distribution on the self-perception of adolescents as well as the
acquisition of digital literacy.
