Fırtınanın Göbeğinde Sanat Mümkün Mü? İklim Krizi Çağında Bir Güncel Sanat Yaklaşımı

Abstract

The frequent natural disasters in our era indicate that the planet is experiencing a climate crisis, and scientists consider the cause of this to be the unlimited consumption of the world's resources by humans. This thesis focuses on contemporary art practices carried out in this new crisis era, known as the Anthropocene, and associates them with relevant critical theories and concepts. The crisis of the Earth exposes the crisis of the anthropos, or humans. This also signifies the need for new narrative forms. How can art take a stance against war? What are the methods of coping with disasters? How can the injustices of the Anthropocene be visualized? How can new methodologies and collaborations be established? Based on these questions, the main focus of the thesis is the art project titled "The Bird is Unseen, yet its Voice is in the Tree," which questions human agency and the relationship with non-humans.
