Türk Edebiyatındaki Grafik Romanların Popüler Kültür Bağlamında İncelenmesi
Özet
Popular culture emerged as a result of people migrating from villages to cities and finding
themselves stranded between high culture and folk culture, unable to find their own place.
The knowledge and economic resources of those who migrated to the city clash with those
of the high culture. Therefore, there arises a need for a new culture bridging high culture
and folk culture. Individuals in society find their place within a group through cultural
exploration. People migrating to cities give rise to a new social class and a new culture.
This newly formed culture is called popular culture. Popular culture caters to the need of
city migrants to escape monotony by creating various literary genres. As literature and
society feed off each other, the emergence of a new social class literature influences the
formation of popular literature. Graphic novels can encompass a wide range of materials
about popular culture. Classified as a subgenre of comic books, graphic novels with more
visuals and fewer texts appeal to readers of popular culture. The thesis study titled "
Analysis of Graphic Novels in Turkish Literature in the Context of Popular Culture"
consists of an introduction, three main sections, and a conclusion. The introduction delves
into the emergence, development, and position of graphic novels within popular culture.
The first section explores the origins, development, and place of graphic novels in Turkish
literature. The second section discusses popular culture, popular literature, structuralism,
color theory, and semiotics. The third section includes analyses of graphic novels. The
conclusion identifies the importance and function of graphic novels in popular culture.
