Psikotik Belirtileri Olan Hastaların Sağlık Çalışanlarının İletişimine Yönelik Değerlendirmeleri ile İçselleştirilmiş Stigma, Benlik Saygısı ve Öznel İyileşme Düzeylerinin İlişkisi
Özet
This study was conducted to determine
whether the evaluations of patients with psychotic symptoms towards the
communication of health professionals affect their perceptions of subjective recovery
and whether internalised stigma and self-esteem mediate this relationship. The study
was conducted with a total of 156 patients in three institutions in Ankara, where adult
psychiatric patients with psychotic symptoms over the age of 18 were followed up as
outpatients and inpatients, and research permission was obtained.
"Patient
Information Form", "Health Care Communication Questionnaire (HCQ)",
"Internalised Stigma Scale in Mental Illnesses (ISIS)", "Self-Esteem Assessment
Scale-Short Form (SES-SF)" and "Recovery Assessment Scale (RAS)" were used as
data collection tools. All analyses were performed using IBM SPSS Version 20
software. Descriptive statistics, Shapiro-Wilk test, t test in independent groups, Mann
Whitney U test, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Kruskal Wallis Analysis
of Variance, Spearman's Correlation Coefficient test, Structural Equation Modelling
were used in the evaluation of the data. According to the results of the study, it was
found that the evaluations of individuals with psychotic symptoms towards the
communication of healthcare professionals had a direct effect on their subjective
recovery levels (β=0.160; p<0.05). This relationship was partially mediated by the
BSDO-CF-positive mediator variable (p<0.05). According to these results, in order
to improve the subjective recovery perceptions of individuals with psychotic
symptoms, it is recommended that communication intervention studies should be
carried out for health professionals involved in the treatment process to communicate
in a way that supports patients' self-esteem.
