Abstract

Throughout history, various inventions have influenced the fate of societies. The power, impact, accessibility, and raw materials of these inventions have varied over time, and the position of individuals in the historical stage has been debated in parallel with the accumulation of knowledge. "Nationalism," which has given its name as an ideology to certain eras, can also be cited as an example of human creations. Nationalism, defined as the official ideology, sentiment, and impulse of a nationally defined political entity with specific boundaries, has shaped societies based on the principles of defining and positioning ethnic nations against others. The Albanians, as a historical nation, have also been influenced by nationalist movements on the path to nationalization. National ideas among the Albanians began to emerge, especially in the second half of the 19th century, and developed through press publications, educational institutions, and the intellectuals of the time. Albanian intellectuals, under the domination of the Ottoman Empire, attempted to keep national ideas alive, and through the Rilindja movement, they paved the way for independence. This study investigates the dynamics of the Albanian national movement, analyzing the contributing factors to this movement by comparing and contrasting them. Additionally, the impact and consequences of the "Rilindja Movement," which can be characterized as the Albanian national awakening, have been examined.
