Abstract

In this thesis, titled "Rhythmanalysis and Rhizomatic Thought: Photomontage," we initially delve into the historical development of the concepts of collage and photomontage. The first chapter scrutinizes the effects of photomontage on artistic expression and explores how space can be transformed through photomontage. The concept of montage is employed to elucidate how different visual elements can be assembled to shape space and experience. The second chapter examines the concept of rhizomatic thought proposed by Deleuze and Guattari. This mode of thinking represents a non-hierarchical, networked structure and is employed to comprehend how knowledge, experience, and space are disseminated. In light of this information, we explore how photomontage can be related to a rhizomatic approach. In the third chapter, we investigate the rhythm of everyday life and the interaction of spatial arrangements using the concept of rhythmanalysis, considering various dimensions of space. In conclusion, this study aims to demonstrate how these distinct intellectual approaches can be integrated to create a new understanding at the intersection of photomontage, space, rhythm, and rhizomatic thought. This work emphasizes the potential to offer new perspectives by uniting different dimensions of art and thought.
