Yeni Medyada Yaratıcı Kültür: Troller ve Ürünleri 'Caps'ler

New opportunities, created thanks to new communication technologies, make it possible for
individuals to create new forms in new media, flourishing the inclusive culture. Analyzing the
productivity of Twitter trolls in Turkey, it can be assessed how these creative forms have come
to life and how they have been circulated. In this study, it has been established a connection
between creative culture and “Caps” and claimed that the “Caps” produced by troll accounts,
specific to Twitter Turkey, make contributions for strengthening cultural citizenship and social
mediation of citizens. Within the scope of the study, thematic discourse analyses of 15 troll
accounts, determined on Twitter, have been conducted. By means of this analysis, creative
language practices of trolls and their Caps productions have been revealed. At the end of the
study it has found that Twitter trolls in Turkey have brought a critical and exclusive point of
view to current issues, phenomena and problems with their customized language practices
and by coining new Caps nurtured with satire and humor. Thus, the products of Twitter trolls
have make contributions to the development of creative culture and thereby participatory
culture.
