Examination of the Relationship Between Parental Psychological Control and Childhood Trauma Experiences Perceived by College Students with Submissive Behaviors, Hacettepe University Graduate School of Health Sciences Child Development and Education Program Master Thesis, Ankara, 2023. In this study, it is aimed to examine the relationship between university students' perceived parental control and their childhood traumatic experiences with submissive behaviors. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 393 university students, 274 women (69.7%) and 119 men (30.3%) continuing their education in Turkey between the ages of 18-30. In the study, "Demographic Information Form", "Submissive Behaviors Scale", "Psychological Control Scale" and "Childhood Trauma Scale Short Form" were used. In comparisons between paired groups; Mann Whitney U test, Kruskall Wallis Test for comparisons between three or more groups, and Spearman Correlation Coefficient for the relationship between variables were used. Regression Mediation Model was used to determine whether perceived parental psychological control and childhood traumatic experiences have significant effects on predicting submissive behavior in university students. As a result of the analysis, childhood traumatic experiences differed according to the educational status of the parents, perceived economic level, average monthly income and settlement, while parental psychological control differed according to the perceived economic level, in addition, submissive behaviors and both mother (r= .404, p= .000) ) and from the father (r= .371, p= .000), perceived psychological control, childhood traumatic experiences (r=. 337, p= .000) were significantly and positively related. partial mediator role of psychological control ( β mother= .169; β father= .209) was found to be significant.
