Çocuk Kütüphanelerinde Yaşam Becerilerinin Geliştirilmesi: Bir Kütüphane Programı Önerisi
Özet
This study examines the impact and permanence of creating a unique library program that develops the life skills of 60-72 month old children in children's libraries. The research was conducted with a total of 57 children (30 children in the experimental group, 27 children in the control group) who were users of the Children's Department of the Sincan Törekent Public Library in the 2022-2023 education period, and the children were ensured to use this library regularly. In the research, one of the quasi-experimental designs, "pretest-posttest design with balanced control group" was used. The "Library Life Skills Program" prepared by the researcher was carried out in the children's library for five weeks in the experimental group, and the control group was not included in the process. Data collection tools are Checklist of life skills components defined by the World Health Organization and an Early Childhood Life Skills Scale. The Checklist has target behaviors that define the life skills components. Evaluation is done by applying the activities written for each of these target behaviors and calculating the performance scores based on these activities. Data collection tools were applied before and after the experimental procedure. 6 weeks after the completion of the application process and the application of the post-tests, the permanence examination was carried out and the test was repeated once more for the experimental group. In the research, describing the demographic information; frequency (f) and percentage (%) were used. Normality tests of the data were analyzed with Shapiro-Wilk and Kolmogorov-Smirnov Tests. Application scores were analyzed with dependent and independent sample t tests. At the end of the research, it was determined that the program applied to the experimental group children created a statistically significant difference on their life skills levels.
