The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between degree of cyberbullying and social skills of secondary school students. Besides, comparison of cyberbullying and social skills with sociodemographic variables were also conducted in this research. For data collection, Cyberbullying Questionnaire was used for the measurement of cyberbullying among secondary school students. For the measurement of social skills, Matson Social Skills Questionnaire for Children was used. Additionnaly, demographic information form was also used for collecting data related to sociodemographic variables. A total of 348 secondary school students, 176 male and 172 female, participated in the study. The main purpose of this correlational study was examine the relationship between cyberbullying and social skills. Based on the results of this study, cyberbullying and cyber victim scores with social skills subscales were found as negatively and significantly correlated. Findings related to regression analyses with social skills and cyberbullying, students reported lower scores in social skills also reported higher scores in both cyberbullying and cyber victim subscales. Besides, students’ scores in cyberbullying and cyber victim subscales were found as associated with the time spent on the internet. Finally, a positive and insignificantly low correlation were found in the regression analysis of the time spent on the internet and cyber victim subscale.
Results of the study, its limitations and implications for practitioners, parents and researchers were discussed.
