In this study of thesis titled Teaching Turkish to the Turkic People: Example of Yesevi Turkish Teaching Set, the Yesevi Turkish Teaching Set prepared for teaching Turkish of Turkey to people of Turkish descent was examined in terms of similar and common elements in the field of language and culture between Turks of Turkey and the people of Turkish descent.
Interest in Turkish is increasing day by day in Turkic Republics. The rising value of Turkey in the international arena and the developments in the field of economy have a great share in this. Since 1993, many students from the Turkic Republics have come to Turkey within the scope of the Great Student Project. In recent years, students of Turkish descent continue to come to Turkey for education, either as PTRC (Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities) scholarship holders or by their own means and many of them study at TTCs (Teaching Turkish Centers) before they start studying in their departments. In this context, the question “Can the fact that the Turks of Turkey and the communities of Turkish descent/language have common elements in the field of language and culture be turned into an advantage for the process to progress more efficiently by accelerating the teaching of Turkish to the people of Turkish descent?” is an issue that needs to be discussed. In this direction, in the study, the structural level and vocabulary similarities between Turkic languages, in what extent cultural partnerships between Turkish-speaking/Turkish descent communities are included in the Yesevi Turkish Teaching Set and whether these partnerships are used in a way that will positively affect the people of Turkish descent's teaching processes in Turkey has been evaluated by discussing the theoretical aspects. In the first stage of the study, typological criteria between Turkish of Turkey and Turkish dialects and cultural partnerships between Turks of Turkey and the people of Turkish descent were determined. The data obtained by the document analysis method from the Yesevi Turkish Teaching Set, which was examined within the framework of the aforementioned criteria, was interpreted with a critical point of view. Research results have shown that in the teaching set examined, the elements for typological partnerships are used in a way to guide the teacher in teacher's guidebooks, in the suggestion and warning sections however in the course and workbooks, they are not used in grammar lectures, texts and activities at a level that can be perceived by the target audience. It has shown that the elements related to cultural partnerships are included in the course and workbooks and partly in the teacher's guidebooks and that these elements are used to raise awareness of the cultural partnerships of the Turkish world in the target audience and to increase the efficiency of teaching Turkish of Turkey to the people of Turkish descent.
