The main purpose of this research is to explore under which circumstances an organizational design enabling each individual to exhibit leadership behavior is possible. The study discusses the concept of organization design and discovers how to design a self-leadership-based organization. In this direction, a qualitative research design is conducted with an interpretive and inductive approach by accepting the grounded theory method as the main research strategy. The study consists of three parts. In the first chapter, the concept of leadership is briefly defined and the self-leadership is explained and discussed in the context of postmodern leadership. In the second part of the study, organizational design is discussed and explained through the dimensions of structure, culture, and strategy of the organization. In addition, the importance and necessity of rethinking organizational design on the basis of self-leadership is opened to discussion. The third and last part of the study describes the design of the research. The research is based on interpretive thinking and attempts to construct a theory about self-leadership-based organizations. For this purpose, it adopts the grounded theory method stating that induction is the focus of the study. A research design including document review, in-depth interviews and focus group interviews is designed. In this context, 11 interviews were conducted with 37 people, including 3 in-depth interviews with 3 people and 8 focus group interviews with 34 people. In accordance with the grounded theory, data collection and data analysis processes are carried out together. The data collected through document analysis and in-depth interviews are analyzed by open coding to reveal the categories. In line with these categories, new data are collected again in focus group interviews. These data are analyzed by axial and selective coding, respectively. As a result of all these analyzes, the structural and cultural characteristics of self-leadership based organization is defined and explained. The self-leadership-based organization is called as common organization. Impact and significance levels of this kind of organazation are also discussed.
