Özet
Globalization and technological improvements has caused significant changes in
the conditions of those in working in the field of press, as in other fields. The
innovations brought by digitalization in the preparation and presentation of news
in the field of press, sectoral competition, the expansion of the time and place
thanks to technological tools; have increased the need for flexibility in working
life.
The concept of flexibility has found its place for the first time to protect the workers
and ensuring social justice in the international law resources and subsequently in
Turkish law. Current needs, technological improvements and the flexibilization in
working life have enhanced the tendency of remote working. Especially, the
COVID-19 pandemic has created the need for working the out of workplace and
crowded work groups.
The facilities provided by the new media technologies have served to popularize
the remote working model in the field of press. Nevertheless, the Law on
Regulation of Relationships between Employees and Employers in the Press
Profession dated 13.06.1952 and numbered 5953 could not catch up with the
digitalization in the labor, the transformation of the concept of journalism and the
alteration of its working scope.
Remote work and digitalization contribute to the dynamic structure of journalism.
In this study, the effect of digitalization and remote working on press labor law
will be evaluated with an emphasis on remote work, as an example of flexible
working models, and the digitalization period of journalism.
