Toplumsal Cinsiyet Bağlamında Travmanın Sanata Yansımaları

Abstract

In the report titled “The Reflections of Trauma in the Context of Gender to Art”, the traumatic situations caused by gender inequality were examined within the social structure and the relationship between trauma and art was examined. In addition to defining men and women biologically in social life, gender shows the behaviors of two different sexes regarding the roles determined by society. Men and women see these behaviors and roles as truths accepted by society. The gender discrimination produced by the patriarchal system and continued throughout the history determined by masculine domination is known as the most effective tool in maintaining the unequal balance between men and women. Discrimination, which is a violation of basic human rights, causes women to be psychologically affected by the power relations that men create in the social field by marginalizing women and to compel them to submit to this domination. As a result, researches show that gender inequality causes trauma by affecting more women in social life. In this study, it has been tried to reach the answers to the questions of how trauma affects art, artist and society, considering the psychological depressions and psychological disorders caused by trauma from a gender perspective.
