Abstract
The main purpose of this research is to examine the exam experiences of Turkish people who took VCE LOTE Turkish exam after high school education in Melbourne, Australia. This study also aims to study the VCE LOTE Turkish education experiences of Turkish people in high school regarding the VCE LOTE Turkish exam. Furthermore, no previous research has been conducted on the VCE LOTE Turkish exam, thus this research is important because it is one of the first studies on the VCE LOTE Turkish exam. This research is a qualitative study which was conducted using single subject design. The data of this research were collected with a semi-structured interview form developed by taking supervisions of field experts. The study group of the research consists of 55 volunteer Turkish people who have taken VCE LOTE Turkish lessons and the VCE LOTE Turkish exam in Melbourne, Australia. The obtained data is analysed by content analysis method. The findings are evaluated in different categories according to their frequency and presented under the headings. The results of the research covers, the reasons of Turkish people learning Turkish in order to improve their language skills and to get a high average from the VCE exam. Participants mostly stated that, their Turkish lesson and exam experiences are positive and they listed the skills and areas where they felt successful in VCE LOTE Turkish lessons and exam. They also stated that besides the good aspects of the lessons and the exam, there are also aspects that need improvement. For this reason, defining the VCE LOTE Turkish course and exam participant experiences and making qualifications for possible shortcomings will make a significant contribution to the evaluation and planning of VCE LOTE Turkish teaching.
