İş, F., Determining the validity and reliability of dynamic gait index (DGI) in individuals with lower extremity amputation. Hacettepe University, Graduate School of Health Sciences, Prosthetics-Orthotics and Biomechani Program Master’s Degree Dissertation, Ankara, 2022. The aim of this study is to investigate the validity and reliability of the Dynamic Gait Index and if it can be used as a practical, consistent, and rapid evaluation method for individuals with lower extremity amputation or not. Twenty individuals between the ages of 18-45 with acquired lower extremity amputation who use the same prosthesis for at least six months, were included. The scale was scored twice with an interval of two weeks by two physiotherapists on 20 amputees by watching the video recordings. The Cronbach alpha coefficient was found to be 0.833. For the test-retest reliability, the ICC was found to be 0.96, the agreement between the first Dynamic Gait Index scorings of the two physiotherapists was analyzed with the ICC and was found to be 0.88, the second scorings which was taken after two weeks after the first evaluation, the ICC result was found to be 0.99. For the content validity of the Dynamic Gait Index, the Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient (r) was analyzed to determine the correlation between Dynamic Gait Index and Timed Up and Go Test (TUG), Four Square Step Test (FSST), and Amputee Mobility Predictor Scoring (AMP). There was a weak correlation between the total score of DGI and TUG (r=0.38), a weak correlation between the total score of DGI and the FSST (r=0.27), and a moderate relationship between the total score of DGI and AMP (r=0, 56). The construct validity analysis of our study was conducted with the Amos package program using diagram. The Relative Chi-Square Index (CMIN/df) value of our study was found to be 0.679 The Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) value was determined as 0.873 The Comparative Fit Index (CFI) value was found to be 1, it was observed that the Root Mean Square Residual (RMR) value was 0.024 and The Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) value was 0, which also indicated a perfect fit. The Dynamic Gait Index was found to be a reliable and valid test for clinical use in assessing gait, dynamic balance, and fall risk in individuals with lower extremity amputation.
