Andropoz Belirtileri Öz Değerlendirme Ölçeğinin Türkçe Geçerlik ve Güvenirliğinin Araştırılması ve Yaşlanmaya Bağlı Gelişen Andropozun Fiziksel Aktivite ve Yaşam Kalitesi ile İlişkisinin İncelenmesi
Özet
The study was planned to examine the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Male Andropause Symptoms Self-Assessment Questionnaire (MASS-Q) and to examine the relationship between andropause symptoms, physical activity levels and quality of life. 125 men with a mean age of 54.24±6.51 years participated in the study. Demographic information of the cases were recorded. First of all, the Turkish version of the MASS-Q was adapted. For the reliability of the MASS-Q, the scale was re-administered to the participants 1 week later. Test-retest reliability was defined by ICC (Intraclass Correlation Coefficient), internal consistency was defined by Crocbach's Alpha. In the validity analysis, content validity was determined according to expert opinion. The Aging Male Symptom Questionnaire (AMS-Q) was used for criterion validity. The men who participated in the study; the MASS-Q and AMS-Q were used to measure andropause symptoms, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form (IPAQ-SF) was used to assess physical activity levels, and the Nottingham Health Profile Questionnaire (NHP-Q) was used to assess quality of life. Correlation analysis was performed to examine the relationship between the MASS-Q with IPAQ-SF and NHP-Q. The ICC values between the test-retest scores of the total and sub-dimensions (sexual, somatic, psychic, and behavioral) of the MASS-Q were found to be 0.987, 0.939, 0.973, 0.951, 0.887, respectively (p<0.05). Cronbach’s α values of the total and sub-dimensions (sexual, somatic, psychic, and behavior) of the MASS-Q were calculated as 0.924, 0.870, 0.747, 0.865, and 0.667, respectively. According to the ICC values obtained, it was found that the MASS-Q had a high degree of reliability. According to the internal consistency results; the first 3 sub-dimensions (sexual, somatic and psychic) were found to be highly reliable, while the behavioral sub-dimension was found to be quite reliable. According to the experts’ opinion, it was determined that there were no questions that needed to be removed from the scale or added to the scale, that the statements were plain and understandable, and it was decided that the MASS-Q had content validity. The validity of the criteria was determined based on the relationship between the AMS-Q scores of the MASS-Q. According to the criterion validity results; correlations were found statistically significant; there was an excellent level between the AMS-Q sexual sub-dimension score and the MASS-Q sexual sub-dimension score (r=0.889, p=0.001), an excellent level between the AMS-Q somatic sub-dimension score and the MASS-Q somatic sub-dimension score (r=0.851, p=0.001), an excellent level between the AMS-Q psychological sub-dimension score and the MASS-Q psychic sub-dimension score (r=0.777, 0.001), a well level between the AMS-Q psychological sub-dimension score and the MASS-Q behavior sub-dimension score (r =0.636, p=0.001), an excellent level between the AMS-Q total score and the MASS-Q total score (r=0.938, p=0.001). According to the results of the correlation analysis; a correlation was found between the weekly walking score of the IPAQ-SF and the MASS-Q somatic sub-dimension score (r=-0.192, p= 0.032). No correlation was found between other physical activity levels and the MASS-Q scores (p>0.05). In addition, positive and significant correlations were found between the MASS-Q and NHP-Q total score and all sub-dimension scores (p<0.05). As a result; it was determined that the MASS-Q is a valid and reliable scale that can be used in Turkish men. Due to the relationship between andropause symptoms and physical activity level, individuals should be encouraged to increase their activity levels in order to reduce andropause symptoms.
