Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to examine the bus terminal graphics in the context of accessing information and finding direction in this framework, identifying its problems, developing suggestions for solving the identified problems and designing an application system in this context. One of the important goals of this thesis is to realize an information and wayfinding design that facilitates access to information, is open to innovation and technology, and is suitable for the identity of the place, while performing the function of informing and directing. This thesis study, which was prepared under the name of “Bus Terminal Graphics in the context of Information and Wayfinding Design and An Application”, was carried out in six chapters. In the first part of the study, the concepts related to information and wayfinding design were examined, in the second part, the basic principles and elements of information and wayfinding designs in the context of graphic design and space are examined. In Chapter 3, the application areas of the information and wayfinding designs are researched and discussed in detail under the sub-titles. In Chapter 4, the information and wayfinding designs of some of the bus terminals in the world and in Turkey are examined in terms of graphic design principles and elements; In the 5th chapter, the bus terminal information and wayfinding designs designed with the approach and elements compatible with the identity of the city for the Sakarya province "Sakarya Bus Terminal" are presented by explaining their development processes.
