This study was carried out to determine the quality of life and job satisfaction levels of the child care staff working in children's homes sites affiliated to the Ankara Provincial Directorate of Ministry of Family and Social Services. In the study, the effect of demographic variables on quality of life and job satisfaction was also investigated.
In the quantitative study, 173 out of 232 child care staffs working in children's homes sites were evaluated.
The research questionnaire consists of four parts in total. The first and second sections were prepared by the researcher in order to determine the socio-economic characteristics and work-life knowledge of the child care staffs. The third section of the questionnaire is aimed at determining the quality of life of the child care staffs, and the fourth section is about the job satisfaction. In the research, the data obtained regarding the quality of life and job satisfaction of the child care staffs were evaluated in terms of their socio-economic characteristics In order to determine whether the categorical variables differed or not, One Way (Anova) and T test were applied by using the SPSS 23 program.
According to the findings obtained in the research, it was found that the quality of life scores of child care staffs were low and the job satisfaction scores were high. However it was determined that the child care staff found the wages they received insufficient and were negatively affected by the lack of promotion opportunities. In addition, it was also determined that the high number of children who are responsible for their care, not being able to spend sufficient and quality time with children, doing things other than job description, excessive workload, and keeping shifts for 24 hours alone are among the other important problems.
In the study, it was determined that there was a significant correlation between the age and gender of the children who were provided care services, the age of the child care staffs, their weekly working hours, the way of working and their quality of life (p<0.05), and a significant correlation between the age, education, working hours and working style of the child care staffs and their job satisfaction (p <0.05).
