Doğa, Sanat ve Biyomimetik Bilim
Özet
The concept of Nature has been a source of inspiration for artists. Recently, rapid depletion of Earth’s resources has become focal point for the artist and scientist to find new solutions. As scientist have been trying to develop solutions to a various set of problems, ranging from pollution resulting from production and consumption, and causing degradation of nature to treatment of diseases, they recognized the emergence of a new discipline with its roots in understanding how nature resolves rising, relatively complex problems. In this thesis, abstractions of elements in nature are interpreted through their structure, texture, color within the perspective of a new branch of science, biomimetic, the study of the structure and function of biological systems as models for the design and engineering of materials and machines, while rediscovering their forms in nature through the lens of kiln, the main ingredient of the ceramic material, with its plasticity, durability, and distinct irresistibility to awaken the urge for tactile stimuli, and bringing a fresh life into the inanimate ceramic pieces through biomimicry.
