“Çocukluk Çağında Yanık Önleme Programı”nın Bakım Vericinin Bilgi Düzeyine ve Ev Ortamı Risk Faktörlerinin Azaltılmasına Etkisi
Özet
This study was conducted as a quasi-experimental study with one group pretest - posttest design to develop “Childhood Burns Prevention Program” for the caregivers of a child with burns and to evaluate the effectiveness of this program. The study population consisted of 154 caregivers who applied to the burn units of Hacettepe University Adult Hospital and Ankara Bilkent City Hospital Children's Hospital between November 2019-February 2020. The study group consisted of the 35 caregivers, who met the inclusion criteria, of 35 children with burn. In the study, “Childhood Burns Prevention Program” including home visits, training and poster was developed. Two home visits were done to caregivers within using this program. Caregivers were trained about the prevention of burns and posters including risk factors were hung in home during the first home visit. In addition, the burn knowledge levels of caregivers and risk factors in the home environment related to burn were evaluated during the first and second home visits. In the study, the total risk factor related burns in the home environment was 28.94±6.24 before the training, while it was 14.68 ± 3.74 after the training. After the training, there was 50% decrease in the total risk factor and this decrease was found to be statistically significant (p <0.05). In addition, the total number of correct answers related the burn before the training was 8.60±2.62, and 11.71±1.70 after the training. It was determined that there was a statistically significant increase in the total number of correct responses to the burn after training in caregivers (p <0.05). As in conclusion, it is recommended to give more importance to prevent burn injuries and to increase public informing and awareness activities.
