Doğal Aydınlatma Kullanımı ve Müze Örneği Üzerinden Bir Değerlendirme
Özet
The fundamental relation between light and architecture is based on functionality.
The most important function of lighting is to ensure the accurate perception of the
space and the objects, textures and colors within.
Architecture is not only aline the spaces side by side and selecting building
materials but also to build up an ambiance in the spaces. Natural light has been
one of the most substantial elements of architectural design since the beginning
of architecture. The aesthetical and functional benefits of natural light set the
grounds for strong connection with architecture. Natural light, in this respect, is of
great importance as a critical material-component in architectural design.
The natural light entering the architectural space influences our perception and
understanding of the space. A space with visual comfort increases the efficiency
of the visual act and also helps the fulfillment of physical and psychological
needs. Light has the competency to change, even recreate spaces. The
interaction of light and shadow together in the space alters perception of space,
spares the monotonity and makes the space appealing.
Daylight is an element of design as well as an environmental system. Our everincreasing
energy need has made it compulsary to use renewable energy
sources as well as to reduce the energy consumption. The sun is both a
renewable energy source and the most important source for energy saving.
Natural light is one of the primary sources of renewable energy, and the use of
natural light in architecture has a crucial role on the sustainability of our designed
environment.
In this study; natural light and employment areas, ancillary contents to be used in
natural lighting and advanced natural lighting methods are primarily included. In
addition, the use of lighting in museums and accurate lighting criteria are
eloborated. In the conclusion, natural lighting methods and the consequences of
the use of natural lighting in museums are presented.
