1950-1980 Dönemi Ankara’da Gelişen Apartman Tipi Konut Üretiminde ‘Ara Mekan’ Kavramı
Özet
There is a lot of debate about the fact that the increasing production of apartment housing after 1950 has isolated individuals from the social environment with its limiting space approach. In this context, the melting of the concept of intermediate (in-between) space, which has been marked as a place of socialization from traditional culture to the present, can be regarded as an indication of the contraction of social life in the housing. In this study, the rich potential of the intermediate space concept, which brings together all the opposite concepts and individuals, and the place of the intermediate space in daily practices are discussed. The main purpose of the research is to investigate the spatial and social value of the concept of intermediate space and to examine the conditions to support the formation of intermediate space in multi-storey housing culture. With this purpose, the study first decidedly focused on the theoretical expansions of the concept of intermediate space. In this study, a case study was conducted in order to define the real life equivalence of the concept of intermediate space and to determine the tendency of the society regarding the concept of intermediate space. The cooperative structures produced in Ankara between 1950-1980 were determined as the scope of the case study, as they were different from other housing productions during the period and offered a common life in all aspects. In the study, qualitative research techniques were used and a semi-structured interview form was applied to 26 participants residing in 4 different settlements identified in the field study. Themes, categories and codes created by the analysis of the findings obtained from the interview form, provided results regarding the formation, use and definition of the intermediate space.
