Özet
This descriptive study is done to determine the views of nurses regarding daily observation charts and their visibility on professional practices which they use for patients. The study was done among two hospitals with over 500 beds; one state health ministry hospital and one university hospital in Ankara. The sample of the study consists of 218 nurses, working in these hospitals for at least six months. Data collection was done with questionnaires demographics and nurse views concerning the visibility of professional practices in the daily nurse observation charts, prepared by the researcher. Counts, percentages, mean, standard deviations, independent samples T-test, and chi-square tests and for statistically significant results, the effect size was calculated. The rate of nurses who thought that the practices they performed for the patient were completely visible in the records was 48.6%. Interventions those nurses do but do not record and are not included in other forms consist of complex physiological practices with 51%, and 25% of them are basic physiological practices. The first three applications in which nurses stated that they “always” record individually; assessment of vital signs (98.2%), fall risk assessment (93.3%), and intravenous fluid monitoring (92.2%). The practices that they reported the least to recorded were assessment of leisure activities (53.1%), assessment of the need for social support (53.5%), and assessment of sexual functions (55.6%). According to the findings of the study, suggestions were made to increase the visibility of nurses in the daily nurse observation form.
