Necil Kâzım Akses’in “Barış İçin Savaş” İsimli Senfonik Şiirinin Bestecilik Teknikleri Açısından İncelenmesi
Özet
Having made a musical revolution in the direction as Atatürk pointed out, the first generation of the Turkish Composers, Cemal Reşit Rey, Ulvi Cemal Erkin, Hasan Ferid Alnar, Ahmet Adnan Saygun and Necil Kâzım Akses who are called “Turkish Five” set a goal to handle our national music to improve and to make it more precious within universal standards.
Necil Kâzım Akses, among the Turkish Five, is in an idiosyncratic place with the administrative and educational missions he undertook in various art organisations and also with his unique and outstanding musical style. Merging several new composition techniques in his musical journey over time, he stylised his musical language perpetually and became an open-minded and a selfrenewing composer. His symphonic poem Barış için Savaş (War for Peace) was composed during years in discretion to mark in commemoration of Atatürk’s centenary birthday in 1981. This is a symphonic work component in utilising the orchestra in every aspect for a duration of approximately 22 minutes.
Through the Barış için Savaş, this study purposes to reveal how Necil Kâzım Akses created his genuine musical style adopting universally-accepted composing techniques, the principals blending well with the concepts he took from his own culture as well as to emphasise the importance of this work in Contemporary Turkish Music repertoire.
