This study aims to examine the moderating effect of allocentrism-idiocentrism and the mediating effect of work engagement on the relationship between perceived procedural/distributive justice and turnover intention.
Organizational justice scale is considered in two dimensions as perceived procedural and distributive justice; work engagement and turnover scale are in a single dimension and the individualism-collectivism scale is in two dimensions. Since the study is conducted at individual level, individualism and collectivism dimensions are named as idiocentrism and allocentrism, respectively.
The sample of the study consists of academics working in social science discipline in Pittsburgh, USA and Ankara, Turkey. In this vein, 201 data are collected in Pittsburgh and 205 in Ankara. SPSS 23 and AMOS 23 are used in the analysis. Process Macro is used for mediation (Model 4) and moderation (Model 1) analyses.
The results indicate that work engagement has a mediation role between the perceived procedural-distributive justice and turnover intention relationship in both countries. The mediation effects are moderate. In Turkey, both allocentrism and idiocentrism have a moderation effect on the relationship between perceived procedural justice and turnover intention. In the USA, allocentrism has a moderation effect on the relationship between perceived distributive justice and turnover intention.
