Zuhurî Danışman’ın Tarihi Romanları ve Romancılığı

Abstract

The purpose of our study entitled “Zuhurî Danışman’s Historical Novels and His Novel Writing” is to examine the author's seventeen works which have not yet been studied independently with a broad perspective, to bring light to Zuhurî Danışman’s novel writing and the dimensions of fiction and reality discussed in his works with the help of the reviews. The study is consisted of two main parts besides the introduction and conclusion. In the first part of our study entitled “The World of Reality in Historical Novels”, the relation between fiction and reality in historical novels are discussed, and Zuhurî Danışman’s Works are sorted and explained in terms of their approaches to historical reality. In the second part of our study entitled “Examining the Historical Novels of Zuhurî Danışman”, the author’s works are evaluated by dividing the seventeen works into periods. At the end of our study, it is seen that Zuhurî Danışman retains historical reality in nine out of seventeen works, changes historical reality in one work, and creates fictional-based narratives based on historical realities in seven works. The fact that the author’s works highly consists of historical realities indicates that his first mission is “to teach”. This mission was supported by the selection of real characters in the works, with real space usage and explanations about social life. This structure, which is seen in the works, allows Zuhurî Danışman to gain an important place both within Republican Period Turkish Literature and among historical novelists.
