Özaltun Ş.C., Evaluation of the Compliance of New Tuberculosis Patients to the Medicines Served Between October 2018-January 2019 From Selected Tuberculosis Dispensaries of Ankara, Public Health Speciality Thesis, Ankara, 2019. The aim of this study was to determine the sociodemographic characteristics of the patients who applied to the selected Tuberculosis Dispensaries of Ankara between October 2018 and January 2019 as a new tuberculosis case and to determine the variables that affect the medication compliance of the patients. The inclusion criterion of the study was the acceptance of the patients to participate in the study. The study was a prospective cohort-type epidemiological study and data were collected from patients three times during treatment. Data collection form with 84 questions was applied as data collection tool. The first follow-up was performed with 84 patients with newly diagnosed TB and the study was completed with 38 patients. 52.4% of the cases were female and the average age was 44.7. 92.9% of the cases were over 15 years of age. Illiteracy levels (15.2%) were found to be high among people aged 6 and over. The average number of households is 4.1. The incidence of extra-pulmonary tuberculosis (AD-TB) in the study was 58.4%. There were no HIV (+) TB cases in the study. The variables effective on compliance with medication treatment were evaluated with the Generalized Estimating Equations method, which analyzes repetitive measurements. Accordingly, it was found that to provide TB medications daily, to know that infectiousness will continue if the medications are not taken regularly, not to be able to provide the medications on a daily basis from the Family Health Center, not to be able to get permission when leaving the workplace for the supply of medications, high income level, regular sleep, to be an AD-TB patient, secondary and higher education level and not to drink alcohol increase medication compliance and it was determined that the difference is statistically significant.
