Erişkin Bronş Astımı Olan Hastalarda Egzersiz Kapasitesinin ve Aktivite-Rol Yeterliliğinin Değerlendirilmesi

Activity limitation is one of the most common symptoms noted by patients with bronchial asthma. In addition, asthma patients avoid exercising due to shortness of breath. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate exercise capacity and occupational competence in adult bronchial asthma patients. The study included 20 bronchial asthmatic individuals with a mean age of 32.85±12.10 years and 20 healthy individuals with a mean age of 33.25±11.16 years. The physical and demographic characteristics of the individuals were recorded. Lung functions using spirometry, exercise capacity using six-minute walking test (6MWT), muscular endurance of the lower limbs with 30 second sit-and-stand test, daily life activities using London Chest Daily Life Activities Scale (LCADL), life quality using Nottingham Health Profile (NHP), quality of life in patients with asthma using Asthma-Specific Quality of Life Survey (AQLQ), the kinesiophobia using Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale, psychosocial evaluation using Hospital Anxiety and Depression (HAD) Scale, occupational competence using Occupational-Self Assessment (OSA) Questionnaire were evaluated. As a result of the study, it was found that exercise capacity, lower extremity muscle endurance, adequacy of daily life activities, quality of life and activity-role adequacy were significantly lower in individuals with bronchial asthma compared to healthy individuals (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of kinesiophobia and psychosocial status (p>0.05). İn conclusion, exercise capacity and occupational competence are decreased in individuals with bronchial asthma compared to healthy individuals. Occupational competence should be evaluated in individuals with bronchial asthma and to be included in the rehabilitation program. In addition, physical activity counseling can be effective to increase the activity participation and quality of life of individuals with bronchial asthma. The our study is leading and guiding the clinical trials that will be conducted on this topic.
