Başer B. Mental Toughness and Sports Self Confidence in Volleyball Players. Hacettepe University Graduate School of Health Sciences, M.Sc. Thesis in Sport Sciences and Technology Program, Ankara, 2019. The purpose of this research; is the examination of the relationship between the level of mental toughness scores and sports self confidence levels of volleyballs players in different age groups (16; 17-18; 19-20). The universe of the study is composed of male and female athletes who play in the category of Yıldız, Genç and A Takım in 2017-2018 season in Ankara and foreign athletes are not included in the study. Totally 620 athletes participated that study and the rate of participats 321 (% 51.8) female and 299 (% 48.2) male. In the study, relational screening model which does not aim to determine the degree of change or degree of change between two or more variables is used. In order to collect data, Mental Toughness Inventory ‘developed by Sheard et al. (2009) and Sports Self Confidence Inventory in developed by Vealey (1986) have been used. The consistency of the responses to the mental toughness and sports self confidence inventory used in the study has been investigated with Cronbach's alpha (α) and it has been found to be α =, 702, α = 862, respectively. When the skewness and kurtosis values have been analyzed for the distribution of the data, it has been found that the distribution has been normal. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics (frequency) and percentage (%) have been used. Pearson correlation coefficient has been used to determine the relationships. In order to determine the differences between groups, t-Test, ANOVA and 4x6 (Gender, Age / Self Confidence, Control, Continuity, Mental Toughness, Continuous Self Confidence and State Self Confidence) Multivariate Variance Anazlizi (MANOVA) were used. SPSS 25.0 statistical package program was used to analyze the data and statistical significance level was accepted as p <0.05 in all analyzes. As a result of the analyzes, it can be said that there is interaction between mental toughness and sports self confidence and they have in a positive relationship with each other. According to the gender variable; men's total score of confidence, control, total mental toughness, trait sports self confidence and state sports self confidence scores were higher than female athletes. According to the educational status variable; mental toughness and sports self confidence scores of university athletes were higher than those of high school and middle school studentsAccording to the sports year variable; trait sports self confidence and state sports self confidence scores of the athletes who have been training for 5 years and above were higher than those who had training for 1-4 years. On the other hand, there were positive significant relationships between the sub-dimensions of mental toughness scale and sports self confidence scale (p <0.05).
