dc.description.abstract | Cutaneous leishmaniasis is one of the most important travel diseases in the world and one of the most common vector-mediated diseases with a wide clinical spectrum and is caused by parasites belonging to the genus Leishmania. It has been seen endemically in 88 countries including ours. Cutaneous lesihmaniasis, endemic in the South and Southeastern regions of our country, has many clinical variants suggested to be associated with the immunologic status of the host and virulence of the parasite. Sporotrichoid leishmaniasis is one of the rare cutaneous variants and in this form, there is nodular lymphangitis characterized by spread through the lymphatics from the primary lesion. This case is presented for being a rare clinical variant of cutaneous leishmaniasis, for emphasizing the importance of travel history to the endemic regions and for drawing attention to the differential diagnosis of lesions spread in a sporotrichoid pattern. | |
